2001 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Hazard Warning Switch and Turn Signal Switch on 2001 Buick Century?
A: Begin switch replacement only when you see the lever centered at off position and cut off the battery's negative side. Turn off the sir before taking out the Steering Wheel and steering column decorative panels. Disconnect wire harness straps from the column assembly and remove the multifunction, turn signal, and hazard switch assembly connector from its connection to the sir coil assembly. Take out the multifunction switch assembly from the steering column by unplugging the bulkhead connectors and serving the switch assembly supports. Separate the steering column tilt head assembly from its multifunction and hazard switch unit. Use a small flat-port tool to push down the electrical contact and set the control switch on top of the steering column. Ensure that the electrical contact rests lightly on the turn signal cancellation cam. Turn the screws to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) as you join the switch assembly connectors to both the steering column bulkhead and sir coil assembly connectors. Connect the wire harness assembly back to its position on the steering column supports, make sure the lever remains off, and put on the steering column trim panels and Steering Wheel. Reenable the sir system after reconnecting the battery's negative terminal.
