Turn Signal Switch

To replace the Turn Signal Switch start by putting the lever in the middle of off position then take off the negative Battery Cable. Shut off sir before uninstalling the Steering Wheel and panel cover pieces from steering column. Remove the wire harness straps attaching to the steering column then disconnect the Turn Signal Switch assembly connector from its connector on the sir coil assembly. Use a small tool to push out the turn signal, turn signal, and hazard switch assembly connectors from their slot at the steering column bulkhead. Then remove and take out the assembly from its position on the tilt head. A small flat-blade tool puts the electrical contact in place allowing you to position both cabin controls on the steering column. Keep the electrical contact resting evenly on top of the turn signal canceling cam during assembly. Use a torque wrench to fasten the screws to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) before connecting the assembly connectors to the steering column bulkhead socket and from there back to the sir coil assembly connector. Snap the wire harness onto its hooks at the steering column then make sure the lever points straight ahead or to the off mark. Put back the steering trim parts and wheel. Complete the process by turning on sir functionality and reuniting the battery negative leads.

You can start working on the Turn Signal Switch after setting the lever to its neutral off position and taking off the negative Battery Cable. Use the sir system off mode before taking out the Steering Wheel and steering column trim pieces. Release the wire harness straps from their position on the steering column and disconnect the multifunction, turn signal, and hazard switch assembly from its sir coil assembly interface. You can detach the multifunction switch from its steering column connector and slide it out of the bulkhead connector before taking off the screws that hold it in place with the tilt head assembly. Position the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly on the steering column by squeezing the electrical contact with a small flat tool while pressing the contact onto the turn signal canceling cam. Secure the multifunction, turn signal, and hazard switches at 7 nm (62 inch lbs) then join their connector to the steering column bulkhead and reconnect it to the sir coil assembly plug. Set the steering wire harness onto its connecting straps before placing the steering column trim panels and Steering Wheel when the lever remains in its center position. Reactivate the sir system before attaching the battery terminal again.

Begin the switch replacement of turn signal, turn signal and hazard by first ending sir system operation then disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Start by removing the Steering Wheel combined with the steering column trim covers while removing the wire harness straps that connect to the wire harness assembly on the column. Extract the Turn Signal Switch assembly connectors from the sir coil assembly connector and pull them out of the steering column bulkhead connector. Unfasten the Turn Signal Switch assembly screws then extract the assembly from the steering column. A small flat-blade tool should compress the electrical contact while you position the Turn Signal Switch assembly onto the steering column so it rests on the turn signal canceling cam. Use a 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) torque when installing the Turn Signal Switch assembly screws to the Turn Signal Switch assembly. Attach the Turn Signal Switch assembly connectors to the steering column bulkhead connector before linking both assemblies together through the sir coil connector. Reinstall the wire harness assembly to the steering column wire harness straps while verifying that the lever position remains in the center or off position before reinstalling the steering column trim covers and Steering Wheel on the steering column. Reconnect the negative battery terminal while enabling the sir system in the last step.

The process of replacing the headlamp switch begins with pulling on the rearward edge of the left instrument panel (IP) access opening cover to free its retainers using a plastic flat-bladed tool if required. Move on to remove the forward edge of the LH IP access opening cover which is secured from behind the hinge pillar. The headlamp switch requires its screws to be removed before slowly pulling it to the outside position for connector disconnect. The installation process begins with plugging in the electrical connection to the headlamp switch next connecting the switch tabs to IP mounting surfaces before fitting the switch correctly into position. Secure the headlamp switch with screws by turning them to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in). The forward section of the LH IP access opening cover should be inserted behind the hinge pillar while the retainers must line up with slots on the IP trim pad before applying firm pressure for installation.

Service and repair of the headlamp Dimmer Switch starts with setting the lever to the middle off position while disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Disabling the sir system enables removal of the Steering Wheel followed by the steering column trim covers. Remove the wire harness straps belonging to the steering column then separate the multifunction and turn signal and hazard switch assembly connector from the sir coil assembly connector. Remove the screws securing the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly from the steering column tilt head assembly to extract the assembly from the bulkhead connector. Additionally, detach the multifunction and turn signal and hazard switch connectors out of the bulkhead connector and extract the assembly. You should apply a small flat-blade tool against the electrical contact to position the multifunction, turn signal, and hazard switch assembly onto the steering column where the electrical contact rests on the turn signal canceling cam. Order the installation by screwing the assembly to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) then connect the bulkhead connector to its assembly and finalize the connection with the sir coil assembly. The wire harness assembly needs to be reinstalled to the steering column wire harness straps before checking the lever position is center or off. Then add the Steering Wheel and steering column trim covers. The sir system becomes operational after enabling it along with negative Battery Cable reconnection.

Start by opening the access opening cover at the left side of the instrument panel (I/P) by pulling its rearward edge outboard. A plastic flat-bladed tool should be used carefully to release the retainers. Extract the forward edge of the access opening cover through the pillar behind the hinge and take it out. The headlamp switch requires you to remove its screws before you pull it gently toward the outside to reach the electrical connector so you can disconnect it. The installation process begins by attaching the electrical connector to the headlamp switch followed by alignment of the switch tabs to the i/p and finishing with switch positioning while screwing it tightly to 1.8 n.m (16 lb in). Push the forward part of the left i/p access opening cover behind the hinge pillar until the access opening cover retainers fit into slots on the i/p trim pad before you firmly press to secure it.

Install the multifunction switch assembly screws to the multifunction switch assembly and tighten them to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).

Pull the rearward edge of the access opening cover outboard on the left side of the instrument panel to release the retainers, using a plastic flat-bladed tool if necessary.

Remove the headlamp switch screws, then carefully pull the headlamp switch outboard to access the electrical connector and disconnect it.

Remove the screws from the multifunction switch assembly and take out the multifunction switch assembly from the steering column.

Connect the electrical connector to the headlamp switch, align the switch tabs to the IP, and press the switch into position.

Use a small flat-blade tool to compress the electrical contact and position the switch assembly on the steering column, ensuring the electrical contact rests on the turn signal canceling cam.
