• Q: How to replace the Hood Cable for the Primary Latch Release on 2001 Buick LeSabre?

  A: To replace the hood primary latch release cable start by opening the hood and remove the Hood Latch after that disconnect the Hood Cable from the Hood Latch. Once it is removed, leave a string tied to the Hood Cable for easy installation into the engine compartment, as well as pulling out the front wheelhouse extension & front wheelhouse panel. Open the clips that hold the Hood Cable to the vehicle, then take out the screws that hold the hood release handle to the vehicle and remove the Hood Cable from the handle. Again, tie a little string around the Hood Cable to make it easier to install through the passenger's compartment, then remove the Hood Cable grommet from the wheel opening and pull out the Hood Cable from the vehicle. For installation, the string needs to be moved to either end of the new Hood Cable, with new routing into the passenger compartment and removal of the string. Fasten the Hood Cable to the hood release handle. Offer the Hood Cable grommet into the wheel opening, pull the string and the Hood Cable back into the engine compartment, and retract the string.
