2001 Buick LeSabre Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the radiator on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The Radiator repair procedure starts with draining engine coolant before removing the upper Radiator seal with the upper tie bar. The Radiator requires removal of the coolant overflow hose followed by disconnecting both upper and lower Radiator hoses which can then be set carefully aside. You must first remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt from the lower tie bar before taking out the cooling fans. The cooler quick connect tool (J 41623-A) enables you to disengage both the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler pipes from the Radiator after removing the plastic cap from their quick connect fittings. The installation process begins with disassembling the Radiator by first removing condenser mounting bolts and then separating the condenser from the Radiator before raising it out of the vehicle. Install the bottom part of the Radiator into lower pads before attaching the condenser to the Radiator where only the specified 15 mm (0.6 inch) length bolt should be used for installation to prevent end tank damage. The proper torque value for A/C Condenser mounting bolts is 13 nm (115 inch lbs.) after which install the transaxle oil cooler pipes into the Radiator quick connect fittings and verify retention through audio feedback and light pulling force. Putting on the plastic caps over the quick connect joints completes the installation process. The cooling fans should then be placed correctly, and the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt must be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) before securing it to the lower tie bar. Per the installation procedure you should first connect the upper and lower Radiator hoses before reaching the Radiator neck to install the coolant recovery hose. After that you must install the upper tie bar and upper Radiator seal and fill the complete cooling system.
