How to service and repair a water pump on 2001 Buick LeSabre?

Engine coolant drainage follows Drive Belt removal to start Water Pump servicing and repair tasks. Begin Water Pump service by removing the bolts from the pulley then removing the pulley itself. First remove the Water Pump mounting bolts (1, 2) and Water Pump from the system. Surfaces where gaskets sit need cleaning before you examine the Water Pump. When installing the Water Pump onto the engine position it with a new gasket while tightening short bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) and long bolts to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Place the Water Pump Pulley along with all its bolts into position and torque them to 13 nm (115 inch lbs.). Reinstall the Drive Belt while filling the cooling system.
