- Q: How to Replace the Lower Intake Manifold on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?A: Supercharger and Thermostat Housing and drive belt tensioner and egr valve outlet pipe need removal before disconnecting the electrical connectors from the ect and temperature sensor to perform lower Intake Manifold replacement. The procedure continues with bolt removal from the lower Intake Manifold and subsequent removal of the manifold piece. At this point follow steps to clean and examine the manifold section. Before installation wipe all oil from the cylinder block heads and Intake Manifold sealing surface until clean using an appropriate solvent before applying gm approved sealer to each end of the Intake Manifold seals. Before installation apply thread locking compound gm p/n 12345739 or equivalent to the bolts after cleaning all adhesive from the bolt holes and Intake Manifold bolts. Place the lower Intake Manifold gasket followed by installing the lower Intake Manifold then apply threadlocker 272 gm p/n 12345493 to bolt threads. Use an installation sequence from 1 to 12 to torque the lower Intake Manifold bolts at 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) torque, including the concealed bolts. Installation includes the egr valve outlet pipe and the drive belt tensioner followed by the electrical connector from the ect and the Thermostat Housing and supercharger.
