- Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate (BV2 32 V NORTHSTAR) on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?A: Apply the Heat Gun (J 25070) to warm up the emblem/nameplate by keeping it 152 mm from the surface for 30 seconds in a circular motion. Use a flat plastic tool to carefully remove the emblem/nameplate from the body panel then thoroughly wipe both surfaces with 3M(R) P/N 07501 or equivalent adhesive cleaner. Clean the damaged panel using soap and water before drying it completely. Clean the body panel with a clean lint-free cloth and an alcohol-water mixture of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water after you remove all remaining adhesive residue with 3M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or similar product. Check that the back compartment door stays locked before placing the emblem at 46.5 mm +/- 2 mm distance from the vertical side border while staying 24.5 mm +/- 2 mm away from the horizontal edge position. Stick masking tape or magnetic strips on the surface first. When body temperature is less than 70°F (21°C), use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to warm the body panel. Use double-coated acrylic foam tape from 3M which includes the products 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape and white, black, or gray variants. Keep your hands away from the tape surface and prevent it from touching dirt particles. Place the emblem/nameplate on the masking tape or magnetic strip and stick it to the chosen surface for 30 seconds. Remove both supports after full adhesion.
