How to replace the emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) on Cadillac Eldorado?

The replacement process for emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) begins with the Heat Gun (J 25070) which should heat the emblem/nameplate at a distance of 152 mm (6 in). Maintain circular motion for 30 seconds while heating. After completing this step, carefully separate the emblem/nameplate from the panel using a flat-bladed plastic tool. The emblem/nameplate extraction requires careful handling using a flat-bladed plastic tool followed by full adhesive removal from panel surfaces as well as rear emblem surfaces using 3M(R) P/N 07501 or equivalent adhesive removal material. Use soap and water to clean the contaminated panel followed by complete drying. After cleaning with 3M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or equivalent, wipe the panel with a dilute solution of water and isopropyl alcohol using a clean lint-free cloth. Begin preparation by fastening the rear compartment lid then place masking tape to indicate an 80 mm point running from the lid bottom to the emblem center. When body temperature falls under 21°C (70°F), use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to warm the body panel. Attach a double-coated acrylic foam tape from the 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape family using either 3M(R) 06380 (white backing), 3M(R) 06377 (black backing) or 3M(R) 06382 (gray backing) while avoiding contact between your hands and the tape or the tape and dirt. Affix and press the emblem against the 80 mm line on the rear compartment lid bottom from 30 seconds while using the adhesive tape. You must ensure strong adhesion by first removing the masking tape.
