- Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) on 2000 Cadillac Eldorado?A: To take off the emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) start by moving a Heat Gun (J 25070) across the emblem for 30 seconds while keeping a 152 mm (6 inch) distance from the panel. Peel the emblem/nameplate off the panel using a flat plastic tool then take off all residue from both surfaces by applying 3M(R) P/N 07501 product or equivalent. Apply soap and water to clean the affected panel first before drying it with a cloth. Wipe the panel clean of leftover adhesive using either 3M® General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or its equal and continue with a cloth and a mix of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water by volume. Make sure the storage compartment back is locked before placing masking tape 80 mm below its bottom edge to mark the center spot of the emblem. Warm the body panel using the Heat Gun model J 25070 when the temperature falls below 21°C (70°F). Adjustment Tape Endurance to mark the 80mm marker on the trunk using a roll of 3M(R) 06380 White Base tape or similar counterpart. Be sure to avoid touching the adhesive side with your hand and keep it clean of debris. Apply the emblem onto the rear compartment lid starting at the bottom 80 mm point and secure it with 30 seconds of pressure until masking tape removal.
