How to replace the front upper and lower door hinges on 2001 Chevrolet Astro?

Before installing new front side door upper and lower hinges you need to remove the door together with the sealer material from its edge area. Makers should first record the door and body pillar hinge positions and then punch the original welds located on the hinge bases. The drilling process needs to create 3.0mm (1/8in) pilot holes into each weld while performing punch-marked locations but must stop before reaching the door framework or body pillar. Use the previously drilled 3.0mm hole to generate a 13.0mm hole through the base of the hinge without puncturing the body pillar or door. The remaining hinge welds connecting to door or body pillar need to be separated with a chisel followed by hinge removal. The replacement hinge must be placed on either the door or the body pillar using the previous scribed marks as guides so that a center punch marks each bolt hole location. Use a drill to make a 13.0mm (1/2in) hole at the center punch marks in the door or body pillar before grinding all welds from the surfaces. A medium-bodied sealer should be applied to the hinge part that will contact the door or hinge pillar. The replacement hinge needs its supplied anchor plate and bolts to install it to the door surface before tightening each bolt to 27 Nm (20 lb.ft.). Apply paint to the hinge and surrounding area before you return the door to its frame and position it by using the holes in the replacement that were made to be 13.0mm (1/2in). Visual verification of the lock fork bolt to striker alignment needs to be completed before closing the door fully.
