How to replace the A/C Hose on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Before replacing the evaporator tube you must recover all the refrigerant present. The first step requires removing the hood close out filler panel as well as disconnecting the coolant surge tank hoses from the surge tank. Disconnect the nut which connects the evaporator tube to the condenser while also discarding the used O-ring seal. The repair process starts with raising the vehicle to access the evaporator tube when removing it from the evaporator unit while discarding both O-ring seals. Set the vehicle at a lower position before inserting the brand new evaporator tube. Safely lift the vehicle and proceed to input the evaporator tube onto the evaporator section while using fresh O-ring seals. Hold the fittings tight with 24 N.m (18 lb ft). After inserting the evaporator tube into the condenser you must tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft) while using new O-ring seals. The installation of the surge tank coolant hoses should begin with tubing placement toward the surge tank and the hood close out filler panel. Evacuation and charging of the A/C system should follow a leak test on components using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
