How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Tube System on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Refrigerant recovery must be the first step before deciding to change the evaporator tube replacement. The first step involves removing the hood close out filler panel to begin the appliance of detaching coolant surge tank hoses from the surge tank. First disconnect the evaporator tube nut from the condenser and remove the O-ring seal which needs disposal. The retaining clip on the body side rail should have its tube removed for vehicles using a 2.4L engine. Start by removing the accumulator tube followed by raising the vehicle before extraction of the evaporator tube containing newly discarded O-ring seals. The installation of the new evaporator tube begins after lowering the vehicle. Supportive measures should be applied to the vehicle while you proceed with the installation. Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator by using new O-ring seals before tightening the fitting to 24 N.m (18 lb ft). First attach the evaporator tube to the retaining clip on the body side rail (2.4L only) before connecting the new O-ring sealed tube to the condenser while you tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Reinstall both the accumulator tube along with the coolant surge tank hoses after placing back the hood close out filler panel. The A/C system needs evacuation followed by charging then all fittings need leak testing through the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
