How to replace the positive battery cable on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?

The first step to replacing a battery positive cable requires removing both the outlet duct and resonator. First disconnect the negative cable from the battery followed by removal of the positive cable directly at the battery. The fuse/relay center must be lifted so you can reach the power lead bolt which needs removal. Peel away the tape holding the two cables at both the battery tray and the transmission electrical plug section. First separate the starter solenoid nut from the positive cable before removing the cable from the vehicle. Install the new cable exactly where the old cable was while tightening the starter solenoid nut to 11 N.m (8 lb ft). At the battery tray and transmission electrical connector place tape on the cables. The installer should replace the power lead bolt to the fuse/relay center followed by installing the fuse/relay center. Affix the positive battery cable terminal onto the battery before securing its terminal bolt to 15 N.m torque (11 lb ft). Last step is to connect the negative battery cable.
