In order to service and repair the constant velocity joint with trilobal design the following tools are mandatory: J41398 CV Puller(J41398), J2619-01 Slide Hammer Assembly (J2619-01), and J35910 Seal Clamp Tool (J35910). Start by cutting off the big seal retaining clamp from the CV joint with a side cutter and throw it away as you also do with the small clamp on the halfshaft bar. The CV joint take out from the CV joint race at the large diameter, slide it off the halfshaft bar. Remove the grease from the CV joint inner race's face. According to the instruction, mark a reference point on the halfshaft bar and measure the distance to the face of the CV joint inner race, noting this measurement prior to the removal of the CV joint assembly. Secure the halfshaft in the vise, put on the J41398 to the outer race, and use J2619-01 to remove the CV joint from the halfshaft bar. Remove the retaining ring and CV joint seal from the halfshaft bar. Using a brass put these six CV joint cages and gently tap and tilt them to remove the chrome alloy balls and repeat the operations. Clean all components thoroughly and check if there is damage to the engine or motor systems, replace if there is damage. Assembling the assembly: apply a light layer of grease to the ball grooves, followed by putting the inner race into the cage and aligning the inner and outer and racing. Mount the cage and inner race, the retaining ring side facing the outer race (the retaining ring will be deflected and have grooves). It requires a brass drift to insert the chrome alloy balls, grease the CV joint, and include a new little retaining clamp without crimping. Clean out halfshaft bar, slide cv joint seal onto it, and install large seal retaining clamp. Put on a new retaining ring on halfshaft bar and apply the arbor press so that the retaining ring locks on the inside race within 4,000 lbs. From pressure. Take the measurement from the reference mark to the CV joint inner race and make sure it is ±1 mm of the original measurement. Apply the clamp that holds the small clamp using J35910, a breaker bar, and a torque wrench, tightening to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs).
