  • Q: How to service and repair the steering knuckle on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Preliminary measures to service and repair the Steering Knuckle is by raising the vehicle for support. Cut the brake hose and remove the brake caliper and rotor. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm as well as the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector. Jack up the lower Control Arm using a jackstand. Use the j 42188 ball joint separator (J 42188) to disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud from the Steering Knuckle, the upper Control Arm ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle along with the lower ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle using the same device. After that is done, you should take the Steering Knuckle off the vehicle. For installation, secure the Steering Knuckle to the upper and lower control arms, and remove the jackstand. Tighten the outer steering linkage ball stud to the Steering Knuckle and stabilize shaft link to the lower Control Arm, tightening the stabilizer shaft link showing a value of 72-nm (53 ft. Lbs).
