How to service and repair the rear upper control arm on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?

To service/repair the rear upper Control Arm, start by jacking up and supporting the vehicle. At this point you may remove the tire and wheel assembly, disconnect the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector and the real time damping (RTD) position sensor link if fitted. To separate the suspension knuckle from the upper Control Arm, it is necessary to use the j 42188 ball joint separator (J 42188). Remove the lower Control Arm stud nut but do not remove it completely, support the lower Control Arm on a jack stand, then remove the j 42188 and the lower Control Arm stud nut from the ball joint stud. Next remove the bolts that hold the upper Control Arm to the frame and remove the upper Control Arm from the possibly used vehicle. In the event of installation, put the upper Control Arm back into the vehicle and install the upper Control Arm mounting bolts to the frame while tightening it to 110 nm (81 ft.Ibs.). Place the suspension knuckle upper ball joint stud onto the upper Control Arm, using an allen wrench may be needed in helping to keep the ball joint stud from spinning when you tighten the ball joint stud nut. Exceptas the suspension knuckle ball joint stud nut, tighten to 20 (Nm 15 ft. Lbs.) to seat ball joint stud, then tighten nut further 250° and torque check a minimum of 55 (Nm 41 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector, install the shock absorber solenoid electrical connector in equipped, and link the real-time damping position sensor link in equipped. Finally, take the jack stand off the low Control Arm replacement, reattach the tire and the wheelset, drop the vehicle, and do a rear wheel alignment.
