To install the upper control arm to the vehicle, Start by installing the upper control arm mounting bolts and into frame and tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.). Next, install the suspension knuckle upper ball joint stud finally into the upper ball joint of the upper control arm, using an allen wrench, if need be, to prevents the ball joint stud from spinning while you tighten the ball joint stud nut. Tighten the suspension knuckle ball joint stud nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) and seat the stud ball and turn it an additional 250 degrees and check a minimum final of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). Then, hook up the wheel speed sensor electric connector, the shock absorber solenoid electric connector if applicable and the real-time damping position sensor link if applicable. Take out the jack stand from the lower control arm, put the tire and wheel assembly, lower the car, and align the rear wheel.

To service and repair the Control Arm, you need to lift the vehicle and support it; remove tire and wheel assembly. Remove the real-time damping (RTD) sensor link and raise up the lower Control Arm using a jackstand. Remove the nut but do not pull off the ball joint nut and instead use the j 42188 ball joint separator (J42188) to separate the upper ball joint stud frum the upper control. After pulling out the j 42188 from the ball joint stud, remove the ball joint stud nut as well. However, the upper Control Arm shims will influence the camber and caster as well, and thus ensure to apply an equal amount of shims on both sides of each individual bushing of the upper control arms. Next, unbolt and remove the upper Control Arm bolts and shims and carefully make a note of the number and location and drill for installation, finally take out of the vehicle.
