- Q: How to replace the rear axle upper control arm (W/O FE4, FE5) on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette?A: To remove the rear axle upper Control Arm (W/O FE4,FE5), first, lift and support the auto. Take off the tire and wheel assembly, and disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and the electronic suspension control sensor link. Incorporate the j-42188-b (Ball Joint Separator) and lever the suspension knuckle away from the upper Control Arm. Require the improvement of the lower Control Arm utilizing a jack stand. Loosen the upper ball joint stud nut no removing it, then remove the bolts retain the upper Control Arm to the frame and remove the upper Control Arm from the vehicle. For install, place the upper Control Arm back into the vehicle and install the frame mounting bolts to the frame crossing 110 nm (81 lb ft). Thread the suspension knuckle upper ball joint stud into the upper Control Arm, using an allen wrench if necessary, as the top of the stud needs to be prevented from spinning while tighten the ball joint stud nut to 30 nm (22 lb ft) and turn 195 degrees. Re-connect the electrical connector of the wheel speed sensor and the electronic suspension control sensor-link. Although it is possible to remove the jack stand from the lower Control Arm and reinstall the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, and perform a rear wheel alignment, it is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for inspection and maintenance.
