    Q:
How to replace the rear axle upper control arm on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the rear axle upper Control Arm lift and raise the vehicle and take off tire and wheel assembly. Remove Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector and electronic suspension control sensor link. With the help of the j-42188-b (Ball Joint Separator), separate the suspension knuckle from the beefy upper Control Arm. First, support the lower Control Arm with a jack stand, and also loosen the upper ball joint stud nut without removing it and also remove the bolts retaining the upper Control Arm to the frame before you take out the upper Control Arm from the vehicle. For installation, replace the upper Control Arm back into the vehicle, mount the upper Control Arm mounting bolts to the frame and tighten them to 110 nm (81 lb ft). Install the suspension knuckle upper ball joint stud into the upper Control Arm with the use of an allen wrench to eliminate some spinning while torquing the ball joint stud nut to 30 nm (22 lb ft) without forgetting the 195 degrees. Use the freewheel bolt to remove the input shaft cover. After removing the input shaft cover, locate the speedometer and throttle cable and remove them from the transmission. The/check visual indicates that the same model transmission, used in multiple bmw models, uses the same diameter as the md5 model. After taking the jack stand away from the lower Control Arm, reinstall the tire and wheel assembly, lower the car and the rear wheel alignment.
