How to replace the lower control arm on 2007 Cadillac XLR?

As a first step replace the lower Control Arm by raising and supporting the vehicle and removing the tire wheel assembly. The front transverse spring comes off with the transverse spring remover (J 33432-A). First disconnect the electrical Wheel Speed Sensor connector before removing both the shock absorber and stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm assembly. Use the ball joint separator (J 42188) to separate the lower ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle after you've loosened but not removed the ball joint stud nut. Begin by separating the ball joint separator (J 42188) from the ball joint stud nut before pulling out the ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle. Mark the cam bolt positions before removing the bolts along with washers and nuts connecting the crossmember to the Control Arm. Then pull out the Control Arm from the vehicle. Place the lower Control Arm before fastening the cam bolts together with washers and nuts while making sure cam bolts stay in their marked position. The wheel alignment process requires you to avoid final cam bolt torque settings when performing the installation. Position a jackstand under the lower Control Arm before installing the ball joint stud onto the Steering Knuckle and tightening the ball joint stud nut to 30 n.m (20 lb ft) while adding 180 degrees of torque. After connecting the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm, torque the link nut to 72 n.m (53 lb ft). Slide the front transverse spring back into place and discard the spring compressor tool known as j 33432-a. Fasten the shock absorber to the lower Control Arm while tightening both mounting nuts to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Finally, connect the Wheel Speed Sensor harness. Rephrase the following sentence. Also normalize verbalization when possible. Finish by taking away the jack stands and putting the tire and wheel back before lowering the car. After that, get a front wheel alignment and screw the lower Control Arm cam bolt nuts to 170 n.m (125 lb ft).
