2007 Cadillac XLR Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle in the rear suspension on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: Vehicle maintenance begins with support and raising the vehicle followed by complete tire and wheel removal. Start by disconnecting the wheel speed sensor harness connector and the esc position sensor link and then separate the brake rotor before proceeding. You should first separate the suspension knuckle from the Tie Rod End before removing the spindle retainer and Spindle Nut and washer. The installer should disconnect the suspension knuckle from both upper Control Arm and lower Control Arm ball joint stud before taking out the suspension knuckle. The installation sequence starts by slotting the suspension knuckle onto the lower Control Arm ball joint stud followed by assembly to the upper Control Arm. The assembly process starts with suspending the Spindle Nut between a washer and retainer and attaching this assembly to the suspension knuckle. Move the process forward with the outer Tie Rod End installation to the suspension knuckle. Install the rotor and caliper before connecting the wheel speed sensor harness connector and esc position sensor link. After installing the tire and wheel assembly you must drop the vehicle and perform a rear wheel alignment.
