How to replace the rear axle upper control arm on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

To change the rear axle upper Control Arm, start by using a hoist and support the vehicle. Make sure to disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and the electronic suspension control sensor link while removing the tire and wheel assembly. Remove suspension knuckle from an upper Control Arm using ball joint separator tool (J 42188). Drop the control link and place a jackstarnd to external to the control link then we remove the upper ball joint stud nut loose from the top ball joint stud nut then we remove the ball joint separator (J 42188) and ball joint stud nut from the ball joint stud. Then, unscrew the bolts that retain the upper Control Arm to the frame and pull out the Control Arm from the vehicle. Mounting, install the new upper Control Arm in its position and mounting bolts into the frame, tighten these to 110 n.m (81 lb ft). Install the suspension knuckle upper ball joint stud into the upper Control Arm using an allen wrench if required to stop it spinning when tightening up the ball joint stud nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) + 195 degrees. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and the electronic suspension control sensor link back. Take away jack stand from the lower Control Arm, reinstall tire and wheel assembly, lower after that, execute rear wheel alignment.
