How to replace the rear axle lower control arm on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?

Begin vehicle maintenance by supporting the raised vehicle before any replacement process. Start by removing the tire assembly and wheel and disconnect the suspension position sensor link from the Control Arm link stud. Do this with caution to prevent scratching the transverse spring. The j 33432-a (Transverse Spring Compressor) helps compress the transverse spring along with disconnecting the shock absorber from the lower Control Arm using an allen wrench to prevent the ball stud from rotating while using hand tools to remove the nut without power tools. Separate the lower ball joint stud from the suspension knuckle using the j 42188 (Ball Joint Separator) while simultaneously supporting the suspension knuckle assembly with hand tools only. After removing the j 42188 and the suspension knuckle's lower ball joint stud nut, use a back up wrench to prevent link stud rotation before removing the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm. Support the Control Arm using a jack stand as you mark where the components attach to the crossmember then disassemble the cam bolts, washers and nuts which hold the crossmember to the Control Arm. Drive out the lower Control Arm combined with its jack stand from the automobile. Place the lower Control Arm into its vehicle position before securing it with a jack stand for installation. The installation of cam bolts, washers, and nuts requires positioning them according to initial removal marks while final torque specification should be avoided because wheel alignment needs proper adjustment. Insert the lower Control Arm ball joint stud into your suspension knuckle before tightening the lower Control Arm ball joint stud nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) plus 180 degrees. Slide the stabilizer shaft link onto the Control Arm while using a back up wrench to tighten the link nut to 72 n.m (53 lb ft). After mounting the shock absorber onto the lower Control Arm remove the jackstand to release the j 33432-a from the transverse spring. If your vehicle has a suspension position sensor link, install it to the Control Arm link stud then add the tire and wheel assembly with a subsequent rear wheel alignment that requires tightening the lower Control Arm front cam bolt to 145 n.m (107 lb ft) and the rear cam bolt to 95 n.m (70 lb ft).
