2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The replacement of the Steering Knuckle begins with vehicle lifting and support. Start the procedure by disconnecting the brake components and rotor and then remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm and disconnect the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector. Secure the lower Control Arm with a supporting jackstand. Start by using a ball joint separator (J 42188) to detach the Steering Knuckle from the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud followed by the upper Control Arm ball joint stud and finally the lower ball joint stud attached to the Steering Knuckle. After performing the separation work detach the Steering Knuckle from the automotive frame. Start by positioning the Steering Knuckle between the upper and lower control arms before taking out the jackstand. Reinstall the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud onto the Steering Knuckle while following the listed fastener instructions. Tighten the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm using a torque of 72 n.m (53 lb ft). First connect the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector before installing the brake rotor and caliper and tire and wheel assembly. Check and adjust the toe alignment as needed after lowering the vehicle.
