2008 Chevrolet Corvette Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: First, lift the vehicle and support it. Apply brake rotor replacement front (J56) and brake caliper replacement front (JL9-J55). Next, you will remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm and separate the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector. Jack up the support of the lower Control Arm using a jackstand. Separate the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud from the Steering Knuckle by using the j 42188 Ball Joint separator (J 42188), then separate and remove the upper Control Arm Ball Joint stud and the lower Ball Joint stud from the Steering Knuckle, all of which will also involve the use of the j 42188 Ball Joint separator (J 42188). After you have taken the Steering Knuckle off your vehicle, install the new Steering Knuckle onto the upper and lower control arms. First take out the jackstand and mount the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud to the Steering Knuckle. Mount the stabilizer shaft link onto the down Control Arm and tighten the nut 72 n.m (53 lb ft). Reconnect the Wheel Speed Sensor wire, followed by installing brake rotor and caliper, using front brake rotor replacement (J56) and front brake caliper replacement (JL9-J55). Finally, fit the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, and inspect the front wheel toe and adjust if necessary.
