How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?

When replacing the Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor, deactivate the SIR system. Gently unscrew the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the sensor harness connector and remove the sensor harness connector from the EFS. Loosen the two sensor fastners and lift the sensor upwards whilst slipping the sensor rearwards out of the key hole slot on the lower tie bar. Installation involves placing the sensor into the key hole and fasteners to 9N.m (80lb in). Next, connect the sensor harness connector, and sensor, into the CPA, and install the CPA onto the sensor harness connector. Finally, turn on the SIR system with the sensor located horizontally so that the arrow will be aimed toward the front of the vehicle and it should be well fastened with a torque value at the specified tightness in order to avoid the air bag deployment and personal injury.
