How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 1) on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?

In order to remove the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 1) disconnect it and turn those ignition off. It is worth mentioning that when the temperature of the engine is above 48°c (120°F) the heated Oxygen Sensor can be easily extracted, and the wrong kind of force would damage the connections in the Exhaust Manifold. A specific anti-seize material, which is graphite in liquid bound with glass balls, is used on the ho2s 1 threads; whereas the graphite will get burned off, the glass beads will stay which allow for simpler debonding of the sensor. New or service sensors si.eut muded with its compound but going mitted results in the removal of a sensor and it being reinstalled requires that it must be treated with anti-seize compound in the threads. Playing it safe with the heated Oxygen Sensor socket (J 39194-B) carefully back out the heated Oxygen Sensor. For installation, apply anti-seize compound gm p/ n 5613695 or an equivalent if needed to the threads of the ho2s 1 and it can be installed and tightened at 41 n. M (30 Lb. Ft) before rejoining the ho2s 1.
