How to replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?

Begin the icm replacement by first turning the ignition to off then removing all electrical connectors attached to the module. Write down the spark plug wire positioning before removing them from ignition coils. After disconnecting all electrical connectors at the icm, remove the screws that secure the coil assemblies to the icm. Then disconnect the coils from the icm prior to removing the icm from the module mounting bracket. Proceed with installation by setting the icm on the module mounting bracket then secure the coils to the icm by following fastener notice in service precautions. Screw the module assemblies through the coils into the mounting bracket securing them at 4.5 n.m (40 lb in). Reinstall the Spark Plug Wires following their original placement during wire removal. Then attach the electrical connectors to the Ignition Control Module.
