2001 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?
A: A replacement of the camshaft position (CMP) sensor begins with turning off the ignition before removing the Power Steering Pump. Disconnect the cmp sensor yet remove its attaching bolt and the sensor itself. When keeping the sensor check its o-ring for damage along with any evidence of wear and cracks or leakage. Cleaning engine oil should be used to lubricate the o-ring before installing the component. Replace the o-ring when it shows any damage signs. Place the Camshaft Position Sensor in position then fasten the retaining bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The cmp sensor electrical connector needs to be connected following Power Steering Pump reinstallation.
