Chevrolet Impala Ignition Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Ignition Control Module on Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before replacing the Ignition Control Module start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and proceed with further steps. Extract the 14-way electrical connector which belongs to the Ignition Control Module (ICM). Before disconnection note the original positions of Spark Plug Wires connected to coil assemblies. Start by using a screwdriver to remove Ignition Coil screws then extract all ignition coils from their position at the icm. Next remove the Ignition Control Module from its bracket position. Jeep grand cherokee does the assembly in two steps: add the Ignition Control Module to its bracket first and then position the ignition coils on top of the Ignition Control Module. Seal the Ignition Coil screws into place using 4.5 n.m (40 lb in) torque. Attach the Spark Plug Wires followed by connecting the module to its 14-way electrical connector and tightening the screw to 2.1 n.m (19 lb in). After you have completed all steps reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
