How to replace the Ignition Control Module on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?

The first step to replace the Ignition Control Module requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. You should disconnect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) from its 14-way electrical connector. Before disconnecting coil assemblies record the positions of Spark Plug Wires. To begin the troubleshooting process remove Ignition Coil screws then extract the ignition coils from their position on the icm. Next separate the Ignition Control Module from its bracket for removal. Begin your installation by attaching the Ignition Control Module to its bracket then install the ignition coils on top of the Ignition Control Module. Carefully tighten the Ignition Coil screws using 4.5 n.m (40 lb in) torque measurements. Install the 14-way electrical connector to the module by tightening its screw to 2.1 n.m (19 lb in). Afterwards connect the Spark Plug Wires. Last, reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
