How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

A vehicle operator must turn off the ignition before beginning to replace the camshaft position (CMP) sensor while also removing the Power Steering Pump. First disconnect the sensor electrical connector before removing its attaching bolt followed by removing the sensor device. For sensor maintenance examine the o-ring by checking for damages such as wear and cracks and leakage. The installation process requires o-ring lubrication with clean engine oil and new o-ring implementation when signs of damage appear. Proceed with installing the Camshaft Position Sensor then fasten the retaining bolt to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Install the Power Steering Pump after connecting the sensor electrical connector.
