How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

To replace the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1, one disconnects the electrical connector. Use the Oxygen Sensor socket (J 39194-B) to unscrew the heated Oxygen Sensor by freehand as it may be a difficult operation if the engine is below 48 °c (120 °F) and the use of extreme force may damage the threads at the Exhaust Manifold or Exhaust Pipe. Cand the measured threads of the heated Oxygen Sensor/catalyst monitor with anti seize compound p/n 5613695, or otherwise similar if needed, since a special anti seize compound with graphite suspended in fluid and glass beads is used on the measured threads. A new or service sensor will already have this compound added. In case a sensor is withdrawn and has to be mounted back, apply ds acting values to the threads. Mount and fasten the heated Oxygen Sensor by pretending it with 42 n.m (31 lb ft) for the ho2s 1 (Pre-catalytic converter). Finally, reconnect the electrical connector.
