2001 Chevrolet Malibu Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Begin by emptying the cooling system before disconnecting all surge tank hoses and electrical connections for the low coolant switch. Finish the process by removing the surge tank along with its accompanying bolt. Start by removing the surge tank bolt and then removing the tank piece after that but only remove low coolant switch from the tank if it is necessary. Before reinstallation of the surge tank you must mount the low coolant switch onto the tank. Afterward you should position the tank back inside the vehicle. Place the surge tank bolt before tightening it to 89 inch lbs. After that, attach the return hose with the coolant hoses to the surge tank. The low coolant switch electrical connector should get reconnected while the cooling system gets filled at the radiator surge tank then engineers must perform leakage testing.
