2001 Chevrolet Prizm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Chevrolet Prizm?
A: Begin the replacement of the camshaft position (CMP) sensor by first removing its two fasteners along with two plastic retainers before removing the engine cover on the engine. The cmp electrical connector should be disconnected first followed by removal of the retaining bolt for the sensor before you can extract the cmp sensor from the Cylinder Head. When outfitting install the cmp sensor into the Cylinder Head by first fastening the cmp sensor hold-down bolt to 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque configuration. Secure the engine cover by reconnecting the cmp electrical connector then installing the 2 fasteners that should be tightened to 8.8 n.m (77 lb in). Finally, install the 2 plastic retainers.
