2001 Chevrolet Tracker Muffler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the muffler on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: First, to service and repair the Muffler, raise and support the vehicle. Remove the two nuts from the Catalytic Converter assembly and disconnect the Catalytic Converter assembly from resonator/Muffler/ Tail Pipe assembly. Next, remove the hangers used to hold the resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly in and take it out of the vehicle. Before installing a new component of an exhaust system, clean the gasket and mating surfaces of the seal and make sure to use new gaskets and seals. Secure the resonator/Muffler/tailpipe assembly back onto the vehicle and support it using hangers. The resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly is then installed with a fresh gasket onto the Catalytic Converter assembly and fastened with two nuts - do not tighten them too tight this time. In order to prevent noise or vibrations before the bolts are tightened, all system component must be aligned and the Catalytic Converter to resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly bolts matched to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
