2001 Chevrolet Venture A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in an A/C system on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Begin the replacement of the A/C accumulator by collecting all refrigerant first. After refrigerant recovery you must proceed with condenser removal followed by the upper mounting bolts and mounting nuts from the A/C accumulator until the unit is free to remove along with the discarding of sealing washers. Apply mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to new sealing washers before installation while avoiding oil entry into the refrigeration system. Clean the sealing areas on the A/C line and condenser fittings by wiping them with a lint-free dry cloth. Put in the fresh sealing washers for connecting the A/C accumulator to the condenser. Place the mounting nuts first before tightening both them and the upper bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in). The A/C accumulator installation will be followed by evacuation before refrigerant recharge then the component fittings must receive testing with the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
