2001 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The first step for replacing the A/C Accumulator involves recovering the refrigerant followed by lifting and securing the vehicle. Detach the bolts securing the radiator air baffle after removing the baffle from its position. Screw the A/C Accumulator flare nuts loose while you tightly seal both evaporator tube and condenser ends immediately to block potential contamination. Then pull out the o-rings from the A/C Accumulator which will be connected to the evaporator tube before disposing of it. Next evacuate the evaporator tube and condenser while removing their tape or caps. Then add lubricant to new o-rings before installing them onto both ends of the evaporator tube. Complete installation of the A/C Accumulator at its ferrules will guarantee the o-rings properly fit inside the housing. Place the A/C Accumulator on the evaporator inlet tube with its arrow facing the evaporator while tightening flare nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). After installing the radiator air deflector you must fasten its bolts while tightening the A/C Accumulator flare nuts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). To complete the procedure the vehicle is lowered before evacuating the system and charging the refrigerant while performing a leak test on fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
