Before replacing the Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose on 5.0, 5.7, 6.5 Diesel, and 8.1L Engines one must prepare a method to drain fluid that escapes the connections. The operation starts with disconnecting power steering hose (3, 4) connections after you seal all ends of the hoses and cooler with caps to avoid entry of dirt. After disconnecting the power steering pipe connections it is essential to place protective caps at the pipe ends. You need to uninstall the cooler from the vehicle after dismantling the nuts. Secure the cooler to the vehicle by installing its nuts and tighten them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Proceed by joining the power steering hose (3, 4) connections followed by the power steering pipe connections. You should fill the power steering system with power steering fluid followed by systemic bleeding to verify correct functioning.
