How to service and repair the timing cover on 2001 GMC Savana 3500?

The repair process starts with crankshaft balancer removal followed by Water Pump removal then engine oil drainage. Proceed by uninstalling all engine Oil Pan fasteners except two at the engine's rear end before delicately disengaging the engine Oil Pan from the engine front cover. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor wire then take away the engine front cover. New engine front cover should go in first before cleaning adhesive residue from the Oil Pan Gasket junction points that meet the engine front cover. A correct installation of the oil gasket and Oil Pan requires fastener tightening when the adhesive remains wet to touch. Apply a 5 mm (0.197 inch) bead of adhesive gm p/n 12346141 or equivalent which should be 25 mm (1.0 inch) long to the area where the engine front cover meets the engine block at the Oil Pan's edge. After installing the engine Oil Pan, reconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor wire, reinstall the Water Pump and crankshaft balancer.
