A replacement of the engine front cover requires workers to begin by taking away the crankshaft balancer followed by the
Water Pump then emptying out engine oil. Apart from the two backside fasteners you will remove every other fastener on the engine
Oil Pan. Then you can carefully remove the pan from the engine front cover. Start by disconnecting the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor wire before you take off the engine front cover. Before installation apply the new engine front cover while thoroughly cleaning the adhesive material from the corners where the Oil Pan gasket connects to the engine front cover. Correct installation of the oil gasket and Oil Pan requires immediate fastener tightening when the adhesive maintains its wet consistency. Apply a bead of adhesive gm p/n 12346141 or equivalent that measures 5 mm (0.197 inch) and extends to 25 mm (1.0 inch) along the engine front cover's junction with the engine block at the Oil Pan. After applying a clean engine Oil Pan you must reconnect the ckp sensor wire and install the Water Pump before reinstalling the crankshaft balancer.
