    A: In order to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch start with draining the cooling system partially. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector and the ECT sensor from its place. In installation, make sure to use correct part number for replacement parts for use and exercise caution while dealing with coolant sensor so as not to damage it posing problems to the fuel control system. Placing the threads of the new sensor with the sealer GM P/N 12346004 or similar mounted the ECT sensor and tighten it to a point of 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Finally, attach the ECT electric connector and top up the cooling system.
