    A: To replace ECT Sensor first turn OFF the ignition and remove the coolant below the level of the ECT sensor. Before disconnecting the sensor electrical connector and removing the ECT sensor, ensure no damage is done. During the process of installing the new ECT sensor, also make sure that the replacement is the correct part number for the application. Treat the threads with sealer GM P/N 9985253 or equivalent and then gently install the ECT sensor and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Connect the ECT electrical connector to the sensor and fill the cooling system after installation. Handle the coolant sensor with care because damage will have repercussions on the function of the fuel control system.
