- Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2002 Buick Century?A: First drain the cooling system and remove the air cleaner assembly to replace the Thermostat. Using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) move the clamp around to the water outlet housing before disconnecting the Radiator Hose. Iconduct these steps: first unfasten the water outlet housing bolts, second eliminate the water outlet housing together with its gasket and lastly extract the Thermostat. Wash down both surfaces which mate with the water outlet gasket before you add the new Thermostat. Secure the water outlet gasket together with housing onto the Intake Manifold by tightening the water outlet bolts up to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). You should use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reinstall the hose clamp after positioning the hose at the water outlet housing. After filling the cooling system you should reassemble the air cleaner and check for any fluid leaks.
