2002 Buick LeSabre A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: Recovery of refrigerant must proceed before disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. The first step involves disconnecting the accumulator cover while also detaching the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover. Subsequently disconnect the positive Battery Cable from the underhood fuse block as well as its associated nut before completing removal. The first process is to remove the accumulator cover followed by loosening the a/c compressor hose nut on the accumulator. Disconnecting the a/c compressor hose along with the evaporator hose from the accumulator completes this step. The technician shall install the new accumulator into the housing using fresh sealing washers after adding correct refrigerant oil amounts to it. Install the evaporator hose onto the accumulator while torquing the evaporator hose nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Connect the a/c compressor hose to the accumulator while installing the a/c compressor hose nut then tight it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The technician should reinstall the accumulator cover before connecting the evaporator hose into its retainer then install the positive Battery Cable along with the underhood fuse block nut which should be tightened to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The service ends with connecting the negative Battery Cable while charging the a/c system before using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test the fittings for leaks.
