2002 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Assembly on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: Beginning the a/c Evaporator hose assembly replacement procedure requires refrigerant recovery and negative Battery Cable disconnection. First disconnect the Evaporator hose nut on the accumulator before removing the hose. To access the Evaporator hose nut at the condenser begin with right headlamp removal then detach the no Evaporator hose nut and remove the hose from the condenser. Disassemble the a/c Evaporator hose by removing it from the accumulator and the Evaporator line nut and the Evaporator hose from the accumulator cover. Pry up to detach the a/c line clip from the rail then route the accumulator and condenser ends of the hose assembly under the coolant overflow hose before extracting the hose from the vehicle. During installation position the a/c Evaporator hose on the vehicle while applying the a/c Evaporator hose clip to the rail before examining the seal washers for damage and replacing possible damaged seals. After positioning the Evaporator hose in place a technician should install the Evaporator line nut and tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Secure the Evaporator hose to the accumulator while tightening its nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Attach the Evaporator hose to condenser then tighten its associated Evaporator hose nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) before reattaching the right headlamp and using the hose clip to secure the Evaporator hose within the accumulator cover. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable to complete the a/c Evaporator hose installation. As a final step recharge the a/c system before conducting a leak test of all fittings through the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
