2001 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Hose Assembly on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The replacement process begins by recovering the refrigerant and then disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Start by disconnecting the Evaporator hose nut from the accumulator before you remove the hose itself. To access the Evaporator hose nut located on the condenser you must start by taking out the right headlamp then disconnect the a/c Evaporator hose nut and remove its hose from the condenser. Perform these steps for disconnecting the components of the a/c Evaporator hose assembly: remove the hose from the accumulator cover and Evaporator line nut from the Evaporator before taking apart the Evaporator hose from the Evaporator. Remove the rail clip with a prying tool to free the a/c line while guiding accumulator and condenser hose ends below the coolant overflow hose before taking out the a/c Evaporator hose from the vehicle. Position the a/c Evaporator hose within the vehicle installation space while installing the a/c Evaporator hose clip into the rail track. Verify the seal washers for any signs of damage and change out any damaged washers. Fasten the a/c Evaporator hose to the Evaporator then install the Evaporator line nut before tightening the connection to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Position the accumulator end of the Evaporator hose and tighten the fittings to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After positioning the a/c Evaporator hose onto the condenser, secure the Evaporator hose nut to a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft) prior to reinstalling the right headlamp. Reinstall the negative Battery Cable and place the Evaporator hose inside the accumulator cover after recharging the a/c system. Complete the leak test on component fittings with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
