2001 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: Cleansing water from the cooling system remains the first requirement before starting the Heater Core replacement. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) enables removal of heater hose clamps which allows technicians to extract the heater hoses from the Heater Core after removing the fuel injector sight shield. Start by removing both sound insulators from the left and right sides of the vehicle. Continue by removing the air distributor duct screws but keep the right side screw in storage as potentially unnecessary for reinstallation. Follow this process to remove the Heater Core heat shield first by uninstalling the screws that secure the air distributor duct and Heater Core heat shield. Afterwards, remove the heat shield from the system. Start by unscrewing the Heater Core cover and removing it along with the retaining screw and strap from the Heater Core before taking out the Heater Core. The new Heater Core must be installed into the hvac module where you should secure it using attaching straps and screws with a torque of 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Position the front dash seals correctly before screwing the Heater Core cover down to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Fasten the Heater Core heat shield screws with a torque of 1.4 n.m (12 lb in) while reinstalling all components. Insert the air distributor duct while making sure the left side screw reaches proper seating position before tightening it to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to install heater hoses followed by clamps. Afterward reinstall both sound insulators. To finish the process you should install the fuel injector sight shield before filling the cooling system.
