How to Replace a Heater Core on Buick LeSabre?

Replacing the Heater Core begins with draining the cooling system. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) enables clamp release after which heater hoses detach from the Heater Core. Start by removing the left and right side sound insulators while keeping track that the right side screw will stay outside. First detach the air distributor duct screws then remove the duct followed by Heater Core heat shield screws before removing the heat shield. First dismantle the Heater Core screws and cover before uninstalling both the retaining screw and strap which holds the core in position then finally separate the core from its mounting bracket. Place the new Heater Core into the hvac module then lock it in position with attaching straps and screws by tightening them to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Place the Heater Core cover back into position making sure the dashboard seals sit correctly then tighten all screws to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Attach the Heater Core heat shield followed by its screws and maintain a torque of 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). Screw the left side angle bracket of the air distributor duct then tighten to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). To complete the operation attach the heater hoses with hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to their clamps then replace the fuel injector sight shield while filling the cooling system.
