• Q: How to replace the throttle cable on 2002 Buick LeSabre?

  A: First, remove the left closeout/insulator panel to replace Throttle Cable. Pull the control cable end from the accelerator pedal lever, then further squeeze the Throttle Cable cover tangs and slide the Throttle Cable through the bulkhead. Then take off the Throttle Cable from retaining clip, from the right slot on top of the washer bottle. Quash the Throttle Cable from the throttle body lever and the Throttle Cable bracket. Install to ensure flexible parts are not run within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless secured. Install the Throttle Cable through the bulkhead and snap retainer through the bulkhead. Push the Throttle Cable through the slot in the accelerator pedal lever ensuring that the cable end fitting snaps into position and snugs against the accelerator pedal lever. The dash panel insulator retainer should be assembled to the Throttle Cable, which should then be pushed over the cable lever end fitting till it snaps over the flange extension of the cable dash fitting, making it flush to the dash mat. Check the free operability of throttle with no binding between solid closed and wide open throttle (WOT) by using the accelerator pedal with proper carpeting beneath the accelerator pedal and that the cable is under the hook in the throttle body lever. Lastly, link the Throttle Cable to the throttle body lever, anchor the Throttle Cable to the Throttle Cable bracket, attach it to the right position slot at the top of the washer bottle, and fasten it into the retaining clip and reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel.
