2002 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a refrigerant system on 2002 Cadillac DeVille?
A: The first step for accumulator replacement involves recovering the refrigerant through proper systems. The first step is to remove the positive Battery Cable from its placement on the accumulator top cover before extracting the evaporator hose assembly from its snap clamp at the cover. Extract the accumulator's cover by unsnapping it before you take out the cover from the accumulator while also removing the evaporator hose assembly and suction hose from its location. Following removal of the accumulator retainer users should separate the accumulator from its retainer before draining oil out of it. When installing the accumulator you should add oil to it and place it in position but check sealing washers for damage before replacing them since damaged washers require no lubrication. The evaporator hose assembly needs installation onto the accumulator followed by torquing the retaining nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Repetitions of this procedure should be made for installation of the suction hose alongside its retaining nut. Fit the accumulator cap to the accumulator by securing all three snap fasteners before returning the evaporator hose assembly to its snap clamp position. The refrigerant recharge process should begin while the positive Battery Cable receives its attached clip position on top of the accumulator cover. The last step includes conducting a leak test of repaired or reinstalled component fittings through the use of halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
